BEETROOT GRAVY

INGREDIENTS:

½ cup moong dal
3 beetroots
1 onion
2 tomatoes
2-3 green chillies
4-5 flakes of garlic (lasoon)
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon cumin (jeera) seeds(jeera)
1 teaspoon rice
2 teaspoon sugar
curry leaves
Corainder leaves for garnishing
1 teaspoon lime juice
2 teaspoon ghee
Salt to taste
PROCEDURE:
----------
Cut the onions, tomato and beetroot into small pieces.
Heat clarified butter (ghee)in a tava, allow the curry leaves (kadi patta)to
splutter.
Add the onions first, when golden brown tomato and then beetroot.
Grind chillies, pepper, rice and cumin (jeera) seeds(jeera) in the mixie and
add it to the vegetables.
Add sugar. Add salt and allow the ingredients to cook to 10 - 15 minutes,
till beetroot is cooked. Add cooked green gram (moong dal)to the cooked
vegetables for 5 minutes in low flame.
Remove it from the tava and add lime.
Garnish it with coriander
